Best Trash to host E-cycle event on Oct. 19

When: Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 9 a.m. to Noon

Location: 9420 Gleannloch Forest Dr, Spring, TX 77379

The Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 383’s Board of Directors encourages Gleannloch Farms residents to participate in an E-cycling event hosted by Best Trash. This event provides District residents with the opportunity to properly dispose of electronics or electronic components taking up space in their homes.

Residents may bring the items listed below to the E-cycle event at the Gleannloch Farms Recreation Center. Items should be removed from all packaging and follow any size guidelines listed.

Acceptable Materials

Nearly all electronics of any age, working or non-working will be accepted.

  • Computers
  • Laptops
  • Monitors
  • TVs (CRT TVs up to 27” in size) (No wooden cased TVs)
  • TVs (LCD/Plasma/LED up to 50” in size)
  • Printers (desktop only)
  • Cable Boxes
  • Power Cords and Cables
  • Stereo Amplifiers
  • VCRs
  • Cellular Phones (removed from cases)
  • Hard Drive
  • IPAD / Tablets

Some materials require an additional expense to dispose of and a small fee may be associated with having those items collected at the E-cycle event.

Accepted for a per-unit fee:

  • CRT Monitors and TVs - $1 per inch of screen size
  • Alkaline Batteries or other household batteries: (AA, AAA, C, D, 9 volt) - $2 per lb.
  • Mixed Media (CD, DVDs, Floppy Disks, VHS Tapes, etc.) – 50¢ per unit

Unfortunately, large appliances and items containing mercury cannot be accepted at the E-cycle event due to limited space and the hazard that mercury represents. Additionally, some chemicals such as paint will not be accepted. Please see the list below for items that will not be accepted at the E-cycle event.

Not Accepted

  • Appliances: Refrigerators, Stoves, Washer/Dryer, Microwaves, Mercury Devices
  • Smoke Alarms, Air Conditioners, Fans, Paint, Medical/Biohazard Waste, Solar Panels
  • Hazardous Materials, Vacuum Cleaners, Dehumidifiers, Light Bulbs, Oil Waste
